Riverside Cemetery

The first city cemetery donated by Mr. Van Orsdale in the first week of 1895 and coincidentally he was the first person legally interred here under the city ownership, dying on January 6, 1895. However, there are several graves that apparently preceded Van Orsdale to as early as 1887.It is the valley with older planted trees and is picturesque in setting and landscaping. Some members of the  Hasty, McClave and Kornman families are buried here.  Their relationships to  town namesakes is unknown.  Several Civil War veterans are buried here  including at least two Confederates. One unique stone is made from petrified wood. Other early day business persons, ranchers and farmers are represented.
