Colorado Birding
Southeast Colorado is home to the largest concentration of North American birds on the entire continent. This area of Colorado offers the best birding opportunities in the nation.

You can view more than 400 of 625 regularly breeding North American bird species in Southeastern Colorado— in its canyons, upon its plains, and along its watercourses. Follow the Purgatoire canyon country through the Comanche National Grassland and you'll eventually arrive at John Martin Reservoir State Park and the confluence of the Purgatoire and Arkansas Rivers.
