Prowers County Courthouse

Designed by Denver architect Robert Fuller, the Neo-classical Prowers County Courthouse was constructed in 1928-29 of Indiana limestone. The entry interior features friezes depicting the registered cattle brands in Prowers County at the time of the building's construction. The detailing of this magnificent courthouse displays an innovative blending of Second Renaissance, Neo-Classical Revival, and moderne styles and, as a sign of the times, heralded a progressive shift away from the architecture of the original, 1890 late Victorian courthouse county needs had outgrown.
